Erin & Garrett in Houston, TX!

I have to admit there were some apprehensions about this wedding… well, not about the wedding of course, rather, about traveling to Texas a week before my wife’s due date (Baby #2 is almost here, for those who aren’t in the loop yet!). So this post is in fact proof that Alex hasn’t killed me for making the trip in the first place. And baby was great, she held off for daddy and all is well so far, I’ll keep you posted on that.

Now about the wedding! At some point during the reception, Erin and I had a brief conversation that I’ve probably had a thousand times, but for some reason it hit me differently this time. Everyone knows it, it was the “wedding day goes so fast” conversation. If you don’t know it, that’s pretty much it right there in it’s entirety. And it’s completely true. But this time my unspoken reaction was that –truly– wedding day isn’t any shorter than any other day. We have 24 hours each day, no more, no less, no exceptions. Sometimes we are on top of the world and 24 hours seem like 2, sometimes we are in the depths of despair and the 24 feel like 200. Most days fall in between. Perception of time is an interesting concept that nobody wants me to philosophize about right now, so suffice it to say what I took from the notion was a reminder that each day has value because each day is limited. You only get one today, and whether you’re getting married or doing something far less extravagant, you only have today. Yesterday is unchangeable and tomorrow is not a given. Do your best, and I’ll do my best to live like I believe it.

Warm fuzzies aside, Erin & Garrett were just heavenly to work with. Their chemistry was so clear and bold (as love should be!) and as a witness, it made my life about as easy as it gets on wedding day. Thanks so much for showing and sharing your love unreservedly. Though I realize a few of the following photos are similar in nature/poses etc. I had the hardest time choosing between all the portrait session shots so I just kept leaving them in the post, I think you’ll find it in your hearts to forgive. With any luck, you’ll even enjoy them!
